Sensex ends up 10pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 17,696 - up 10 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,274, down three points. The BSE Healthcare and the realty indices are firm, up 2% and 1%, respectively. Tata Power is the top gainer on the Sensex, up 3% at Rs 1,456. Grasim Industries has added 2.5% to Rs 2,700. Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance and ONGC are the other major gainers on the BSE, up 1-2% each. Among the list of losers, Hindalco and Maruti has shed 3.5% each to Rs 169 and Rs 1,464, respectively. IT stocks like TCS and Wipro are down 2% each at Rs 735 and Rs 691, respectively. Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel, Infosys, Hero Honda and Reliance Infrastructure have declined 1% each. The market breadth has turned negative, out of 2,919 shares traded, 1,416 have declined and 1,434 have advanced so far on the BSE.
